Linus Roache Heads to “Coronation Street”

The Press Association has reported that Linus Roache (Law & Order) will appear on the UK television series/soap “Coronation Street” along with this brother James and his father William Roache, the latter who has been a star on the show for 50 (!) years. Linus is William’s eldest son, and James, his youngest.

Too bad its not aired in the U.S.A.

I don't think it's permanent casting, I think it's part of special storylines to celebrate the show being on the air for 50 years

I hope it's just a guest role! I am sure Dick Wolf has asked the cast to wait a few weeks before making long term plans...but it sounds great.

Maybe he can appear on an episode of L&O UK while he's there....

Well, you can't blame me for trying... lol...

This does bring up a serious question, though. How long is the current team of actors from the Mothership under contract? Are they currently still under, or would new contracts have to be negotiated if there is to be a wrap up movie or if the show moves to another network? And how long until they'd have to decide about the set, etc? I would imagine it's still up, but I also doubt they'd keep it up forever...

Apparently, you can watch episodes here.

So I know that I'll be watching out for it when it's out. :)

I think most of us had the same initial reaction: Wow, that was fast! But yeah, given that his younger brother is in on it too, it sounds like a temporary thing. Intriguing...

Shelly: You bring up some interesting points... I imagine everything is just in a holding pattern at this time. Even if L&O is miraculously resurrected, I doubt production would start right away; moreover, that it would even air before mid-season. Good timing for Alana, though, eh?

And speaking hypothetically here, but wouldn't it be funny if Linus did guest on L&O UK as "American" Mike? Yes, I really am that nerdy... (But seriously, I'd totally watch it.) Ha!

If and when L&O gets cancelled, I would sure love to see Linus Roache replace that redundant and irritating Ben Daniels on L&O: UK. The former is a much better actor in my opinion. It would have to be a new character though... an English Mike Cutter anyone?

Hi, I found this with reference to the contracts.

http://www.deadline.com/2010/05/no-afterlife-for-cancelled-series-this-year/

Hope the link works. If not, at the end the article says that the contracts are still valid until the end of June.

BTW: English isn't my first language. So, sorry for any mistakes in my short comment.
