S. Epatha Merkerson (Law & Order) will receive an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) in recognition of her contribution to the arts. Epatha began her acting career as a theatre major at Wayne State, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She will receive her honorary degree during the commencement ceremonies at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Tom Adams Field.
There will also be a free, public Q&A with Epatha on the campus of the university on
Friday, May 8, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. The event will be held at the Schaver Music Recital Hall at Old Main. Further details can be found on the Wayne State University events calendar.
