According to several sources, Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order Criminal Intent - USA) and Paul Sorvino (Law & Order - NBC) have joined the cast of the film, “The Irishman” which got its inspiration from the book by Rick Porrell titled “To Kill The Irishman: The War That Crippled The Mafia.” The book was based on a story about a Cleveland, Ohio mobster named Danny Greene. Shooting is scheduled to begin in Detroit on May 19. (I think maybe Cleveland looks too nice now for a mob story to be credible?)
By the way, since I live in the Cleveland area, I can recall very clearly all the news stories of mob activity that went on here in the days of Danny Greene, and used to work within about a mile of the building where he was killed by a car bomb – in the “high rent” suburbs, no less. There were lots of mob bombings in the area in the late 1970s – many people do not realize what a hotbed of organized crime the area was in those days. It could make for an interesting movie.
