L&O SVU Producer Neal Baer’s “Passion Project” Film

Law & Order SVU Producer Neal Baer helped to bring a documentary film, which he calls his “passion project,” to the big screen. This isn’t just any film, however. “Mozambique” is a film by teenage African AIDS orphan Alcides Soares, and Baer, along with others connected to Law & Order SVU, helped shepherd the film and bring it to theaters, art centers and galleries worldwide as part of the 12th annual Manhattan Short Film Festival. An AP press release says, “Baer, a physician-turned-TV producer long interested in using storytelling to illuminate social and health issues, called on his circle to help with Soares' film. "Law & Order: SVU" stars Mariska Hargitay, Christopher Meloni and the NBC show's writers donated a video camera, and funding came from the NBC Universal and "Law & Order" franchise creator Dick Wolf's Wolf Films…”
