Vincent D’Onofrio May Get “Down and Dirty”

Several entertainment sources report that Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order Criminal Intent) is being “lined up” to play Harvey Weinstein in the film “Down and Dirty Pictures,” an adaptation of Peter Biskind’s “Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance, and the Rise of Independent Film.” As the articles indicate that Vincent is being “lined up.” I don’t think it is a done deal as yet. But the physical resemblance between the two people sure appears to be a great fit for Vincent. I hope that confirmation that the role is his comes soon. As more details become available, I will pass them along.

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced complete casting for the World Premiere of CLYBOURNE PARK, a new play by Bruce Norris (The Pain and the Itch at Playwrights Horizons/PH 2006-2007 Season).

Directed by Pam MacKinnon (Peter and Jerry, The Four of Us, Occupant), the production will begin previews Friday, January 29, with an Opening Night set for Sunday, February 21 at 7PM at the theater company’s Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). The limited engagement is currently scheduled to run through Sunday, March 7.

The cast will feature Tony Award winner Frank Wood (Side Man and August: Osage County on Broadway, The Wax at PH), Emmy Award nominee Annie Parisse (The Credeaux Canvas at PH, Becky Shaw at Second Stage, Prelude to a Kiss on Broadway, Assistant DA Alexandra Borgia on “Law & Order,” Julia Lindsey Snyder on “As the World Turns”), Jeremy Shamos (100 Saints You Should Know and Miss Witherspoon at PH, Reckless and The Rivals on Broadway, Gutenberg! CLYBOURNE PARK will be Mr. Norris’ first play to have its World Premiere in New York. While Playwrights Horizons presented his first New York premiere with The Pain and the Itch in 2006, his previous five plays all had their World Premieres at Steppenwolf Theatre.

In 1959, a white family moves out. In 2009, a white family moves in. In the intervening years, change overtakes a neighborhood, along with attitudes, inhabitants and property values. Loosely inspired by Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun, this pitch-black comedy from Bruce Norris takes on the specter

of gentrification in one of America’s most recognizable communities – leaving no stone unturned in the process. The production will feature scenic design by Dan Ostling, costume design by Ilona Somogyi, lighting design by Allen Lee Hughes and sound design by John Gromada. Production Stage Manager is Carol A. Clark.

Playwrights Horizons’ production of CLYBOURNE PARK has received generous support from the Eleanor Naylor Dana Charitable Trust. Special thanks to the Tobin Theatre Arts Fund for supporting the set and costume designer fees for this production.

Playwrights Horizons’ season productions are generously supported by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust.

Michael Moriarty Jumps Into Law & Order Political Controversy

Michael Moriarty - who fans of Law & Order will remember as Ben Stone, the first EADA for Law & Order - has long been very outspoken for the right, his political rants legendary (not in a good way). He’s decided to jump into the controversy stirred up with the recent episode of Law & Order SVU "Anchor" and other episodes of Law & Order. You can read Moriarty’s editorial at this link: Michael Moriarty “The Increasingly Left Law and Order." He seems to blame Law & Order executive producer Rene Balcer for almost everything. I guess he isn't aware that Neal Baer is executive producer of SVU, who is really the one responsible for "Anchor," an episode that even left-wingers thought went a little overboard.

Jeremy Sisto (Law & Order), wife Addie Lane, and their daughter Charlie Ballerina were out trick or treating on the West Village of New York City on Halloween. With a name like Charlie Ballerina, I thought his daughter would be dressed as a ballerina, but there I go thinking again.

They are a cute looking family, and I am sure you will be ooh-ing and aah-ing over the photos. Of the baby, that is!

Julianne Nicholson To Appear in “THIS”

Linus Roache Talks Law & Order to NY Post

Linus Roache (Law & Order) spoke with The New York Post’s “Pop Wrap” about the show, being a TV lawyer, and what is on the horizon for Cutter. An excerpt:

PW: The show has subtle ways of revealing things about the characters -- will we learn anything about Cutter in the next batch of episodes?

Linus: There is quite a big reveal happening in the episode we're about to start shooting. It opens up a whole can of worms about Cutter's internal love life, his romantic aspirations. There's a whole arena that's about to be explored -- where it will go, I don't know.

PW: Hmm, after Elisabeth Rohm's ADA came out as a lesbian, they fired her -- should we be worried of something like that here?

Linus: [laughs] Well, you never know! But seriously, I don't think that's the intended outcome -- it's just really going to open up a very interesting, new internal drama for Cut
ter.

Anthony Anderson Responsibility Project Short Film To Air Tonight During Law & Order

A new short film by Anthony Anderson and starring Jeremy Sisto, both of Law & Order, will air during this evening’s episode of “Law and Order” in a story of the importance of responsibility in our daily lives. NBC and Liberty Mutual recently asked several of the network’s stars to answer the question – “What does personal responsibility mean to you?” Their answers will be shared via a series of one-minute film shorts and vignettes that will air during NBC's primetime programming from Monday, October 12 through Friday, October 16.

The one-minute film short series are sponsored by Liberty Mutual’s Responsibility Project, which launched last year and has already received more than 4.5 million visitors to its online community, which features several film shorts and thought-provoking blog content to serve as catalysts for examining the decisions that confront people trying to “do the right thing.” The films will be posted to The Responsibility Project web site as well as the NBC Web site following their debuts.

Here is part of the official press release which gives the details about this project:

Top NBC Series Talent to Direct One-Minute Film Shorts on Personal Responsibility
Sixty-Second Films Are Latest Addition to Liberty Mutual’s Responsibility Project
Scheduled to Air During NBC Primetime Shows From October 12-16

BOSTON/UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- (Oct. 8, 2009) -- NBC and Liberty Mutual, the fifth largest property and casualty insurer in the U.S., recently asked several of the network’s stars to answer the question – “What does personal responsibility mean to you?” Their answers will be shared via a series of one-minute film shorts and vignettes that will air during NBC's primetime programming from Monday, October 12 through Friday, October 16. Participating actors from the popular NBC primetime lineup include Anthony Anderson (“Law & Order”), Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights”), Zachary Levi (“Chuck”), Emmy nominee Jack McBrayer (“30 Rock") and Milo Ventimiglia (“Heroes”) who each directed one of the five film shorts that address personal responsibility and the decisions that confront people trying to “do the right thing.”

The one-minute film short series is the result of a collaboration between NBC and Liberty Mutual, which is sponsoring the vignettes as part of its Responsibility Project, an initiative focused on sparking conversations about the meaning of personal responsibility using unique and entertaining content.

“Liberty Mutual created the Responsibility Project as a catalyst for a larger conversation on the topic of personal responsibility, which has different meanings for every person,” said Paul Alexander, senior vice president, communications, Liberty Mutual Group. “We are excited that partnering with NBC on the one-minute film short series allows us to add another dimension to The Responsibility Project, and thrilled to be involved in bringing to life some of today’s most popular actors’ creative interpretation of this concept.”

Each of the minute-long film shorts will focus on the central theme of personal responsibility and will air during the NBC shows: “Heroes,” “The Biggest Loser,” “The Jay Leno Show,” “30 Rock” and “Law & Order.” The films also will be available after their on-air debut at NBC.com and at
http://www.responsibilityproject.com/
